College Planning Consultant/Aptitudes & Careers Specialist

Amy Rice joined Estrela after working on both the high school and university sides of the college admissions process. Most recently, she worked as a College & Career Access Advisor in several school districts throughout Lorain County, advising students in grades 9-12 on their path towards a postsecondary education, application completion and review of financial aid offers before decision.

Prior to her work in the schools, she served as director of admissions for Houston Baptist University in Houston, Texas. Over 7 years at the institution, she worked with many students and parents throughout the entire enrollment process, from initial point of communication to testing recommendations, scholarship and financial aid packages, and summer orientation. She also piloted a revised summer academic registration program for all new students and majors, and enrolled several record-setting incoming freshman classes.

Amy received her B.B.A. in Management from Texas A&M University, and completed her M.Ed. in Higher Education from the University of Houston in 2016. She is very passionate about the positive outcomes that higher education can bring, and has presented at multiple national and regional conferences on student recruitment, retention, and admissions processes. In addition to her work with Estrela, Amy also works with College Now Greater Cleveland, a college and career access organization located in Cleveland, Ohio, as a manager of program evaluation & research.

Amy relocated to Northeast Ohio from her hometown of Houston, Texas in 2017. She lives in downtown Cleveland with her husband and their boxer dog. They enjoy the lake and parks of Northeast Ohio, the local farm-to-table food scene, and outdoor baseball games. She loves to cook gourmet meals, and enjoys as much Tex-Mex and Astros games as she can.
