Founder & President
Kristina L. Dooley is a Certified Educational Planner (CEP) and founder of Estrela Consulting. Prior to launching Estrela Consulting in 2008, Kristina served as the Assistant Director of Admission at Hiram College (OH) and as the Director of Admission and Marketing at Andrews Osborne Academy (OH). In her previous positions, Kristina had the opportunity to assist students with varying academic and extracurricular interests and abilities with their school search processes. These experiences were the foundation for Kristina’s interest in assisting families through a process that, though seemingly complex, can also be very exciting!
In addition to assisting students from the U.S., Kristina has had the opportunity to work with students from around the world. Having lived in Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico, Kristina has a strong sense of the hurdles international students and “global nomads” face when applying to study in the U.S. or Canada. Her experiences living abroad have helped to strengthen her passion for working with international and expatriate students, particularly those in Latin America.
In addition to her work with students, Kristina is an instructor for the University of California, Irvine teaching College Consulting Resources and also serves as a faculty member of the IECA Summer Training Institute at Swarthmore College for aspiring educational consultants. An expert in her field, Kristina has contributed to several websites, books and magazines on education-related topics. A sought after speaker, Kristina presents at conferences around the country each year.
Kristina earned a B.A. in Communication and Sociology from Hiram College, and an M.A. in Public Relations Management/Journalism from Kent State University. Kristina is a Professional Member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA), the National, Ohio and International Associations for College Admission Counseling (NACAC, OACAC, IACAC), and the Small Boarding School Association (SBSA). In addition, Kristina is a member of the Hiram College Board of Visitors, sits on the Advisory Board of Hudson Community First, serves as a mentor for College Now Greater Cleveland and volunteers for JDRF Northeast Ohio.
Kristina and her husband and Estrela Co-Founder, Greg, currently reside in Northeast Ohio with their 6-year-old triplets.
Co-Founder & CFO
Greg Dooley is Co-Founder and Chief Financial Officer of Estrela Consulting. Greg officially joined Estrela in early 2015 to drive finance, strategy and operations as Estrela seeks to expand its local presence and offer additional services. Greg has more than 15 years of experience working in large corporate and small, private company environments.
Prior to joining Estrela Consulting, Greg served for nearly 10 years in various finance leadership roles at The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, supporting the development and execution of strategic plans focused on driving long-term shareholder value. Most recently, Greg served as Director, Financial Planning & Analysis at the Company’s corporate headquarters in Akron, Ohio, where he was responsible for leading the annual planning and budgeting process, generating insights into financial and operating issues, and supporting the development of corporate strategy.
Greg developed significant international experience having worked for 5 years as Finance Director in several of Goodyear’s Latin American businesses. Prior to moving overseas, Greg was Manager, Investor Relations and was responsible for developing and implementing Goodyear’s investor communication strategies. Greg began his career at Oak Associates, ltd. a nationally recognized growth equity investment advisor based in Bath, Ohio.
Originally from Akron, Ohio, Greg received his B.A. in Management from Hiram College and an MBA in Finance from The Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Greg serves on the Leadership Council for Beyond Type 1 and is a member of the Hiram College Board of Visitors.
Greg and his wife, Kristina, currently reside in Northeast Ohio with their 6-year-old triplets.
Client Experience Manager
Connie Perney joined Estrela Consulting in April 2015 as the Client Experience Manager. She has a comprehensive background in customer service, business and entrepreneurship.
Prior to coming to Estrela Consulting, Connie was the practice representative for Crossroads Chiropractic & Acupuncture in Northfield, Ohio where she helped the business establish name recognition, promote new patient programs, and develop key community relationships within the Nordonia Hills area. The role she served previous to this was Area Manager of Client Services for Senior Helpers NEO. There, Connie connected families seeking assistance for elderly relatives with Senior Helpers caregivers. Connie has also used her business skills to run her own online relationship marketing service, SendOutCards.com, to assist businesses in growing their customer base and increasing client referrals and retention.
Prior to transitioning to the small business arena, Connie led and developed customer service call center organizations at XO Communications, OfficeMax, and AT&T. She earned both her Mathematics and Computer Science Bachelor of Science degrees from Muskingum University in Ohio and also received her M.B.A. at Baldwin Wallace University in Ohio.
Connie enjoys working with families and their students at all levels. She actively coaches volleyball from beginners to high school athletes and is a Junior Olympic club coach. She, her husband, Tom, and their 3 daughters reside in the Northeast Ohio.
